IronSync Android Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies only to the Android app IronSync (package name com.ironwoodapps.ironsync), published by Ironwood Apps.

1. Summary

IronSync does not collect, upload, sell, or share your personal data with Ironwood Apps. Sync profiles, settings, and activity logs stay on your device. IronSync does not create an Ironwood Apps user account and does not ask you to sign in to Ironwood Apps to use the app.

2. Who is responsible

Ironwood Apps is the developer and publisher of IronSync on Google Play. For privacy questions about IronSync for Android, email support@ironwoodapps.com.

3. What IronSync does

IronSync synchronizes folders you choose on Android. You can sync between local folders on the device, and optionally with Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or Dropbox after you sign in to those services. Modes include one-way backup, one-way mirror, two-way merge, and move. You can analyze planned changes before a run and use schedule or watch options when you enable them.

4. Information processed on your device

IronSync processes the following information locally on your device:

  • Folder and file metadata needed to compare and copy, update, move, or delete files you configured
  • Sync profile definitions (paths or cloud folder references, modes, schedules, skip patterns, and related options)
  • App settings you choose (theme, Pro unlock state for testing builds, and similar)
  • Optional local activity logs and exports you generate for troubleshooting
  • Tokens and session data required to talk to a cloud provider you connected (stored by the app or the provider’s SDK on your device)

This information is stored in Android storage belonging to IronSync. It is not transmitted to Ironwood Apps servers as part of normal sync operation.

5. Information we do not collect

  • We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or contacts for an IronSync account
  • We do not upload your file contents or sync profiles to Ironwood Apps
  • We do not use advertising SDKs or sell data to data brokers
  • We do not build advertising profiles from IronSync usage
  • We do not require an Ironwood Apps login to run the app

6. Internet use and third parties

IronSync is designed so core local sync does not contact Ironwood Apps. Network activity occurs when you sync to or from locations that need the network, including cloud providers you choose.

Additional network activity may occur only when:

  • You connect a cloud provider: Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or Dropbox sign-in and file transfer are handled with those services. Their privacy policies apply to accounts and storage you use there. Ironwood Apps does not operate those cloud services.
  • You open a link from the app (for example this privacy policy or the product page) in your browser.
  • Google Play: installing and updating the app. Google’s processing is governed by Google’s policies.
  • Google Play Billing (optional Pro): cloud sync features may use a Play subscription. Payment details are handled by Google, not by Ironwood Apps.

7. Permissions

IronSync may ask for Android permissions so features can work. Examples:

  • Internet: cloud sign-in and cloud file transfer when you use them
  • Notifications: sync progress and status
  • Foreground service (data sync): keep an active sync job reliable while it runs
  • Boot completed / alarms: scheduled sync when you enable it
  • Battery unrestricted (optional): reduce system limits that can stop background sync
  • Billing: optional Pro purchase through Google Play

Local folder access uses the system folder picker. You can deny optional permissions; related features will be limited.

8. Data retention and deletion

Profiles, settings, and logs remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall and clear the app’s storage. Uninstalling removes the app; clear storage or app data if you also want local IronSync data removed. Cloud files stay with the provider you used until you change or delete them there.

9. Children

IronSync is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes

We may update this policy when IronSync changes. The effective date at the top will be revised. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
