IronShield Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 8, 2026
This privacy policy applies to the Windows app IronShield, published by Ironwood Apps.

1. Summary
IronShield does not create an Ironwood Apps account and does not require you to sign in. Core protection runs on your PC. Optional cloud second-opinion checks send file hashes or related metadata only to the threat-intelligence providers you enable with your own API keys. VPN credentials and Tailscale networks are yours. IronShield ships with no preconfigured VPN.
2. Who is responsible
Ironwood Apps is the developer and publisher of IronShield. Privacy questions: support@ironwoodapps.com.
3. What IronShield does
IronShield provides local malware scanning (ClamAV), optional cloud reputation checks, quarantine tools, and optional VPN connectivity via Tailscale exit nodes or imported WireGuard configurations that you supply.
4. Information processed on your device
- Files and paths you scan or that real-time protection observes
- App settings, threat logs, and quarantine metadata under your Windows profile
- VPN configuration you import or enter (for example WireGuard configs or a Tailscale exit-node name)
These materials are not uploaded to Ironwood Apps as part of normal operation.
5. Optional cloud checks
If you enable cloud checks and configure API keys, IronShield may submit hashes or limited indicators to third-party services you chose (such as VirusTotal, OTX, or abuse.ch). Those services have their own privacy policies. Ironwood Apps does not receive those submissions.
6. VPN and third parties
If you use Tailscale or a WireGuard VPN provider, that traffic and account relationship is between you and that provider. IronShield does not ship anyone else’s Tailscale network or VPN credentials.
7. Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email, or contacts for an IronShield account
- We do not sell your data or use advertising SDKs in IronShield
- We do not require an Ironwood Apps login to run the app
